Neil Mendez

Coach Neil Mendez is in his first season at Issaquah high school as the Varsity co-head coach, and JV coach. He helped last year in various roles Hazen High School with their boys' basketball team. In the off-season he coaches through an AAU program taking on a high school team and an eighth grade team as well as participating in a variety of basketball camps working with kids of all ages and skill levels. Coach Mendez continues to stay active on the basketball court as well not only as a coach but as a referee for the last 10 years and as a player participating in a variety of different leagues ranging from men's rec basketball to local Pro-Am basketball.

Coach Mendez played his high school basketball at Mountlake Terrace high school then moved on to the college ranks playing at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma Washington. After red shirting his freshman year at PLU he went on to start every game for four years and had a wonderful college basketball experience at the Division III level. Coach Mendez is currently atop the record books at PLU in scoring, rebounding, block shots, steals, free throws attempted and made! A true student of the game, Coach Mendez looking forward to working with the high school kids and giving back to this game that has done so much for him.

When not on the basketball court coach Mendez enjoys checking out new local restaurants, a Netflix TV marathon, or when the weather is good going for a hike or doing some camping.
